Hi, I just soldered all of the controller and RGB parts and wanted to test out the RGB leds before I soldered the switches, diodes, and resistors. What is the correct way to do this?

I tried to plug in the USB and upload the firmware, but nothing happened and when I felt the ATMEGA IC it was very hot. Please advise me on how I should proceed.

    Thanks!

    Hi

One you installed RGB LEDs, just plug it to check if they are lighting.
You don’t need diodes nor resistors for the RGB LEDs.
(But you need Main controller and RGB Controller.)

could you show me your PCB?

Yes, I resoldered the IC as I had it the wrong orientation. Here is the pic without the new IC in:

I did burn the pcb a little but I tested the continuity of the traces and they seem fine still from the atmega.

    Hi

I think your soldering looks very good except Main controller.
(Very good compared to other user, I mean it.)

If your computer doesn’t recognize your keyboard,
probably your main controller was burnt out or some pads were detached.

If you send it to me, I could check it.
(But delivery fee is on your charge.)

    Thanks.

    Oh I missed last line.

Do you mean you fixed it?

I resoldered the controller with the atmega32 from my extra controller kit (from bpad) but I’m afraid the other components may have burned out as well so I may try to replace all of them.

    Please check one by one.

I think your soldering skill is very good.

    Just careful of direction(polarity).

    Thanks.
