    Hi!

I am currently trying to assemble a b.87 with plate mounted switches. As far as I know, the plate is supposed to hold the switches in place. This  works for most of the holes, but the holes with stabilisers are too large to hold a switch into place. This makes the switch loose. How should I solve this?

The switch and plate in question

It shouldn’t be all that loose.  I’m using hot swap sockets and even without any contact with the acrylic, the switch sits tight enough without wobble.  If you’re soldering there should be even less reason for wobble.  I am using a b.87 R with the LEDs positioned on top FWIW but I don’t think it should be that much of a difference.

I don’t use any LEDs though, so it’s hard to position the switch while soldering. I’m thinking it would be easier to just order some PCB mounted switches instead, but I thought the acrylic plate was supposed to be able to hold all switches.

The acrylic plate is a bit too thick for holding down the bottom switch housing clasps.  The aluminium plate looks to be thin enough and has a different second layer to allow them to lock.  For the acrylic plate your best bet is either get a few pcb mounted bottoms for the stabilised switched or use tape to hold the switch in place temporarily before soldering.  Might be easier to tape with a keycap on as well.

    Hi

Plate mounted switch doesn’t have additional legs to hold PCB tight.
So the hole of plate is supposed to do that job. But a hole supporting a stabilizer can’t hold switch tightly enough.
In that case, you should solder switch hard after putting a stabilizer and keycap.

    Thanks.
